This panel brings together women who are former athletes for an engaging conversation rooted in storytelling and connection. Through personal reflections, panelists will share how their experiences in sport shaped their confidence, leadership styles, and approach to challenges, ultimately influencing their professional journeys. From lessons in resilience and teamwork to finding their voice beyond the game, this discussion explores the lasting impact of athletics and how skills developed on the field translate into success in careers and leadership roles

Abena Boamah-Acheampong is a Impact entrepreneur and community builder working at the intersection of beauty, culture, and global social impact. She is the Founder and CEO of Hanahana Beauty, a clean skincare and wellness brand rooted in sustainability, accessibility, and values-aligned growth.

A former Chicago public school teacher and trained therapist, Abena brings a people-centered, education-driven approach to leadership. Since launching Hanahana Beauty in 2017, she has grown the company from a self-funded idea into a multimillion-dollar brand carried by national retailers, while building long-term partnerships with women-led shea butter cooperatives in Ghana that prioritize equitable pay, shared decision-making, and sustainable economic opportunity.

Through her work, Abena bridges communities across the U.S. and Africa, demonstrating how cultural exchange, ethical sourcing, and strategic growth can work together. She has cultivated a global community of over 90,000 people across her personal and business platforms and is a sought-after keynote speaker and guest lecturer, with engagements ranging from Harvard University to Loyola University. Her work has been featured in Forbes, Vogue, and Essence.

Abena is a former collegiate track athlete and all-American high jump.

Morgan Bucciferro is the senior director of Event Operations for the Chicago Cubs and oversees the organization's new Wrigley Field Events team. In this role, Morgan leads the team responsible for managing more than 900 events at Wrigley Field each year, which includes baseball games, concerts, Gallagher Way events and private gatherings. She also served as one of the founding co-chairs for the club’s Diversity, Equity and Inclusion (DEI) council from 2022-2024.

Under Morgan’s leadership, the Cubs enhanced the entry process at Wrigley Field in 2016, which ensured greater safety and improved the fan experience. She also helped design the operating layout for Gallagher Way—an outdoor town square adjacent to the ballpark that hosts over 300 activations for fans and visitors alike today.

Prior to working at the Cubs, Morgan worked for Red Frog Events as the director of Warrior Dash and the operations director of Firefly Music Festival.

Morgan is a member of the Stadium Managers Association and Women in Leadership Deliver. She is a dedicated mom of two and remains passionate about volunteering. During COVID, Morgan also worked to transform Wrigley Field into a mass vaccination site and food distribution center.

Morgan graduated Magna Cum Laude from the University of South Caroline Upstate with a Bachelor of Arts in Communications where she played Division 1 volleyball.

Emily Jones is the Senior Manager of Data and Technology for Chicago Stars FC, entering her sixth season overseeing the club’s front-office data, analytics, and technology infrastructure.

Prior to joining the Stars, Emily worked across professional and collegiate sports, including roles in the NBA and NCAA, and has also worked as a self-employed contractor supporting sports organizations.

She is a former four-year varsity softball athlete at Grand Valley State University. She also played basketball and volleyball in high school, and enjoys learning golf and pickleball now in her free time.

Brittany Hizer spent most of her career designing and innovating commercial exercise equipment for Life Fitness.

A lifelong athlete who ran competitively four years in college, Brittany’s professional passion for fitness is rooted in her personal love for sport.

After graduating from the Kellogg School of Management Executive Program, she pivoted to the marine industry as the President of Crestliner.

In 2020, she co-founded Pluie, the world's first and only self-sanitizing diaper changing table, as seen on Shark Tank.

Today, Brittany remains an avid mover; whether taking classes at Orange Theory or playing sports with her son, she remains dedicated to the power of an active lifestyle.

Nia Robinson is a creative strategist, producer, and sports media professional passionate about empowering the next generation of women in sports. Through her work with the Chicago Sky, she creates digital experiences that celebrate athletes, fans, and the stories that make women’s sports culture thrive.

Nia’s impact extends beyond basketball. She is deeply invested in storytelling, community-building, and creating opportunities for young women to explore leadership, creativity, and confidence in sports and media. She believes that every girl deserves to see multiple versions of success—and to know there’s no single path to making her mark.

Nia grew up running track and field and cross country, and now competes in tennis, staying active and creative in the sports world.

OUR KEYNOTE: JASMINE MINOR

Chicago area native Jasmine Minor joined the ABC 7 Eyewitness News team as a reporter focusing on race and culture stories.

Minor joins ABC 7 from WISH-TV in Indianapolis, Indiana, where she served as an investigative reporter and anchor. Throughout her career, her stories ranged from digging into local issues that impacted the community to national coverage at the White House. Some of her past work has shed light on survivors of human and sex trafficking and the racism and lingering trauma that professional Black athletes endure on and off the field.

Minor was also honored with a prestigious fellowship with The Pew Research Center where she acted as a juvenile justice fellow.

Her work has been singled out with a National Association of Black Journalists National Salute to Excellence Award, nine Emmy nominations, two Emmy Awards, and many other honors.

As a former NCAA Division 1 tennis player, Minor recently co-founded the Kevin Minor Legacy Fund in memory of her father, an annual $5,000 tennis scholarship given to a young girl in the Midwest. Minor was inducted into Carmel Catholic High School's "Hall of Fame" for her tennis achievement as the top tennis player in the state of Illinois during her high school years there.

She received her master's in broadcast journalism from Northwestern University, Medill School of Journalism.
